Kris Davis has quickly grown to become a vital contributor to New York's jazz scene. An artist exploring the balance between improvisation and composition, her writing and pianistic prowess have been described as 'adventurous' and 'refreshing'. She is known for her work as leader with the trio Paradoxical Frog with Tyshawn Sorey and Ingrid Laubrock, her trio Good Citizen with John Hebert and Tom Rainey, and her Quartet with Tony Malaby,Eivind Opsvik and Jeff Davis. In addition to her work as a composer and band leader, she has recorded and performed with Ingrid Laubrock’s band Anti-House, with Tony Malaby's large ensemble Novela, Kermit Driscoll's Reveille, Mat Maneri, Chris Speed, Sara Serpa, and Jon Irabagon, among others.
