Their words:

"The Knitting Factory was founded in 1987 and over the years has grown into Knitting Factory Entertainment, which encompasses four clubs — in New York, Hollywood, Boise, and Spokane — several record labels and other ventures."

Our words:

In the 1990’s the Knitting Factory was a homebase for avant garde and progressive jazz and improvised music in New York City, with regulars such as Kenny Wollesen and Sex Mob bringing life into the awkwardly designed rooms, on every floor. After a dark period in the early 2000’s plagued with bad Jersey-rock, the Knit has once again become a place for a positive live experience, and new great jazz is once again finding a home within its walls. It is one of the last remaining all ages rock clubs in New York and is extremely important, for that reason alone, if its rich history. Some recent performers include Marc Ribot, Wayne Krantz, and Nels Cline, and our very own Search & Restore LIVE series.
