Our words:

Top notch and somewhat under-appreciated venue that weekly hosts some of the biggest names in New York Jazz , all in a very intimate setting and relatively affordable depending on what you want to eat/and or drink (which you may want to since both the food and drink are excellent). No PA's (vocalists are an exception), no frills, just a small, dimly-lit, basement level room with very low ceilings and as a result hosting groups no larger than trio format. That being said, you're going to find some of the best solo, duo, and trio (usually not piano/ sometimes keyboards, due to the space restrictions there is no piano in house) action you'd be able to catch on any given night in Manhattan. Joel Frahm, Jonathan Kreisberg, Grant Stewart, Ben Monder, the roster is a who's who of NY heavyweights. If you're into vocalists checkout every Monday night for their "Local Vocals" series.
